At left, a detail of some of our favorite runs in Jackson State Forest. At right, a detail road 452, connecting 400 and 450.

There are several approaches to this little adventure, via Simspon's 450, Gravel Pit's 400, or Highway 20's 440. These journeys will vary from 8-10 ish miles for an out-and-back, and 7-10 ish miles point-to-point.

This gallery shows how to approach 452 from Gravel Pit. It is an enjoyable out-and-back of just over 7 miles,  mainly alongside Hare Creek, which includes a trestle bridge, and plenty of thimble and blackberries at the right time of year. 452 is the steepest grade. The rest of this road is gently sloped or relatively flat aside from the first quarter mile.
